BIBLE
We believe that the Bible, composed of 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books, is the Word of God, supernaturally inspired, inerrant in its original form, infallible, so that it is our supreme authority in all matters of faith, doctrine and conduct.
TRINITARIAN
We believe that there is only one GOD eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of Heaven and Earth.
JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ in the flesh is both God and Man, that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life. He was crucified and He died to pay the penalty of death for our sins. By His shed blood, the Lord Jesus Christ made a perfect sacrifice for sin once and for all time and was raised from the dead on the third day. Later He ascended to the Father’s right hand where He is the Head of the Church and intercedes for believers. We believe He is coming again to the Earth bodily and visibly to set up His Kingdom.
Body of Christ: “When the beliefs of another church are similar to the major beliefs, consider them as brothers and sisters in Christ. For the differences, leave it to God.”
MAJORS
- Deity of Jesus
- Jesus incarnation, death, burial and resurrection
- Holy Trinity
- Salvation through faith alone, by grace alone
- Ministry of the Holy Spirit
- Authority and inerrancy of the Scriptures
- Second coming of Jesus
When dealing with truth, let’s major on the major(Salvation), and minor on the minor.
Even as the pillars of truth in Christian faith have been identified, be loving as we stand firmly on these truth. Love is still the greatest neutralizer and greatest commandment of all.
How do we keep the truth in mind?
Leave our past behind. Dwelling on the things that happened before wont change what happens next. Pursue forgiveness and reconciliation.
Count our blessings. We tend to overlook all that God has given us, lets remember to be grateful.
Be firm in the essentials, and be flexible with the non-essentials. Exercise self control and remember what truly matters.
In addition to the fundamentals, these are the non-essentials that are debatable and subject for discussion:
MINORS
- Timing of Jesus second coming
- Divorce and remarriage
- Church governance
- Style of baptism
- Signs and wonders
- Baptism of the Holy Spirit
- Worship/music approach
- Preaching style
- Days and time of worship
- Appearance, entertainment and recreation.
